Tree Description

The Kindred Spirit® Oak is a unique and highly sought-after oak known for its narrow, columnar growth habit and strong durability. This hybrid oak combines the strength and adaptability of English oak and swamp white oak, creating a tree with excellent structure and landscape performance.

Unlike most oaks that spread wide, Kindred Spirit grows in a tall, upright form, making it ideal for smaller yards, tight spaces, driveways, and landscape accents where a traditional large oak would be too wide. During the growing season the tree features deep green foliage, which turns golden yellow in fall.

These 15-gallon trees establish quickly and grow into a distinctive vertical accent tree, providing the strength and longevity of an oak in a more space-efficient form.

Sun Requirements

• Full sun (6–8+ hours daily)
• Best growth and structure develop in full sunlight

Water Requirements

• Water deeply during the first growing season while roots establish
• Typically 10–15 gallons once or twice per week depending on rainfall and weather
• Once established, trees are moderately drought tolerant

Soil & Nutrition

• Adaptable to many soil types including clay soils common in central Missouri
• Prefers well-drained soil but tolerates a range of conditions
• Apply a balanced tree fertilizer in early spring if desired
• Maintain 2–3 inches of mulch around the base to conserve moisture and protect roots

Mature Size

• Height: 30–40 ft
• Spread: 6–12 ft
• Growth rate: Moderate
