Tree Description

The Kieffer Pear is one of the most durable and productive pear trees for the Midwest and southern climates. Known for its toughness and reliability, this tree produces large golden pears with a crisp, firm texture that hold up exceptionally well for cooking, baking, canning, and preserving.

This variety is extremely adaptable and performs well in a wide range of soils and weather conditions, making it a very dependable fruit tree in central Missouri. Kieffer pears ripen in late September to October, providing a productive fall harvest.

As a semi-dwarf tree, it grows to a manageable size while still producing heavy crops. With proper care, trees often begin producing fruit within about 2–4 years after planting.

• Typically 10–15 gallons once or twice per week depending on rainfall and heat
• Once established, trees are fairly drought tolerant

• Prefers well-drained soil

• Apply a balanced fruit tree fertilizer in early spring
• Maintain 2–3 inches of mulch around the base to conserve moisture and protect roots
