Fresh Start, Same Passion, Same Quality

I’m under the assumption that about 97% of the people reading this are close family.
I mean really — who reads a blog on a tree website outside of proud grandmas and maybe a drunk uncle?

Especially now, when most website blogs are AI-generated, SEO-cookie-cutter, brain-rot content.

But nonetheless — if you are reading this, thank you.

I hope to be different. More honest. More authentic.
If you think this is bullshit, tell me. I mean that. Any and all feedback is welcome.

I’ve written a few other blogs on this site that I think show we do things a little differently.

So here goes nothing.

How It All Started

I started doing tree work for myself in 2010.

I was young and dumb and had no business doing some of the jobs I landed — but people believed in me and gave me a chance.

In 2017, I founded Resource Tree and Land.

It was my heart. My passion. My dream.

I never expected the level of support and opportunity that came from owning a small business. I’d often find myself thinking, “Holy s**t… my dreams came true.”

I loved my job. I would stop at nothing to get better.

I wanted to:

      • Provide good jobs

      • Raise the standard of tree care

      • Bring pride back to the profession of being an arborist

And I’m proud to say we did.

    Some unexpected changes came fast!

BUUUUT That candle burns bright at both ends… and eventually it met smack dab in the middle and burned out in the spring of 2024.

It turns out my dreams weren’t fully aligned with everyone else in my life.
And not unlike many business owners with young families — I got divorced.

A lot had to change, and it had to change fast.

    My priorities became very clear.

The shop property, orchard, and nursery were sold.
Resource Tree and Land was merged with a good friend’s and mentor’s company.

Looking back now, God so clearly had a plan.
But in those moments, I felt like a fish plucked out of water and laid on hot pavement.

I either had to grow lungs… or lie there and cook.

    Starting Over With Clarity

I’ve now done almost every aspect of tree work there is:

        • Climbing and trimming for line clearance

        • Residential removals

        • Tree propagation

        • Nursery care

        • Orchard installation

        • Hurricane cleanup

        • Plant Health Care programs

        • Growing and scaling a business

And now I have had to stop cold and reassess everything.

What I was gifted in that pause was a chance to do this the way that best serves my faith, my family, and my customers. Not my ego and anxiety.

      Why Tiemann Tree Source Exists

No longer caught up in the rat race of scaling a business, running multiple crews, and carrying endless loans, I’m able to focus on where I can truly make a difference.

I’ve taken this winter to study and plan the unfolding of Tiemann Tree Source.

A small, high-end tree care service.

      Focused on:

          • Tree planting done right

          • Plant Health Care

          • Diagnostics

          • Pruning and trimming

          • Consulting and long-term planning

We won’t be able to take every job. And for the ones we don’t, I have great people I’m happy to send you to.

But the ones we do take on — I personally guarantee we are qualified to meet and exceed expectations.

Why Smaller Is Better (For Me — and For You)

The parts of tree work I love most don’t scale well.

Truly understanding a customer’s needs, their property, and their long-term goals just doesn’t happen when a salesman is feeding jobs to multiple crews running millions of dollars in equipment.  Some quality gets sacrificed trust me.

If you want a commercial lot cleared — I’m probably not your guy.

But if you want a partner in making the best decisions for your property…
If you want someone who takes the time to understand your trees and your goals…

        I’m your guy.

Having done heavy removal work for years, I can also give you clear direction on what needs to be done, how to do it, and a realistic idea of cost — even if I’m not the one doing the work.

If it involves a tree, big or small, I truly believe I’m your best first step.

Why This Matters to Me Personally

I want the opportunity to involve my sons as they get older.

To give them the same gift my parents gave me — learning to love your work, and serve others.  I dream of seeing large mature trees one day with my grandkids, and saying  ”  See that big ole oak?  Your daddy and I planted that waaaay back in the 2020s”

And just as importantly, I want to be present in their lives.
Coaching baseball. Hunting. Fishing. Being there.

Also present in the lives of my customers.  Actually be there to help and understand.  Over the years my customers have became some of my best friends.  Instead of giving a little of myself to a lot I would like to give the best of my abilities to the right ones.

A big goal of mine is to improve tree planting.  So many people are wasting time and money and have no idea.  I want to make a difference in the urban forest of Columbia for decades maybe centuries to come.  There is so much room for improvement and I am excited to give this my best effort.  Be watching for education on proper tree selection and planting.  Im about to get on my soap box.

I’m incredibly blessed to say that this is exactly what Tiemann Tree Source allows me to do.

        Looking Forward

I’m a Board Certified Master Arborist — one of only 21 in the state and two in Columbia, the highest credential in arboriculture — with over 15 years of experience across nearly all aspects of tree care.

I still have a lot to learn. But I’m proud of the blessings and the hard lessons so far.

        Moving forward, we’ll be:

            • Sharing information about our services

            • Talking about exciting new tree planting options and systems

            • Sharing our passion for educating about trees and the people who care for them

To everyone who believed in Resource Tree and Land, and now Tiemann Tree Sourcethank you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the support.
Feel free to call anytime with questions.

It truly means more than I can put into words.
